PORT CHALMERS FIRE BOARD
The annual meeting of the Port Chalmers Fire Board was held last evening, and wag attended by Messrs F. C. Smith, A. Campbell, G. F. Mirams, E. H. Ferguson, and H. A. B. Brabant. Mr A. Campbell was elected chairman of the board for the eneuing year. The town clerk, Port Chalmers, wrote advising that the council had iu hand the improvement of the water supply throughout the whole reticulation, and that the poor pressure in Meridian street to which the board drew attention would receive consideration.
The brigade report stated that practices were -well attended. There were no fires during the quarter. The brteade bad decided to send a team ; of five men to the demonstration to be held at Oamaru on March 31, the team to consist ot Deputy-superintendent M'Elwee, Junior Foreman Percy, Firemen C, Craig and B. Gibbs. and Secretary Thetford, Secretary Thetford was also a delegate to the S.D.F.B.A. conference to be held prior to the demonstration. The board decided to give £lO towards defraying the expenses. „„ ,„ ,„, Accounts amounting to £B9 12s 10d were passed for payment. After consideration the board decided that £270 should be put on the estimates for the coming year.
