AUSTRALIAN WINES
MARKET IN AMERICA AN UNSATISFACTORY POSITION. NEW YORK:, March 5. (Received March 6, at 11.30 p.m.) The confusion which exists in the liquor Bituatidn in the United States, particularly relating to the Australian position, is resulting in considerable difficulty and embarrassment to the Commonwealth office here. It is learned that the American market problem which, from the Australian point of view, until now was considered to be chiefly one of quota, is really much more than that, and may prove a matter of successfully marketing products here. While it is kndwn that eome leading figures among Australian wine producers are giving careful and enterprising attention to the American market a greater number of Australian growers have as yet far from satisfactory connections in America, and it is believed that the sale of Australian wines must ultimately be handled in a unified, comprehensive fashion.
