The Invercargill Trotting Club's meeting was concluded to-day. The weather was fine, but a couple of light showers fell during the day. The track was yielding but in good order. There a large attendance, and again the racing Hvas keen; ; ■ ' ''": :-'■ - ; . Lucky Lee, Yacation, and Picotee hiade the early running in the Trial Haridioap from Sea MarK arid Royal Guy, and this was the order almost throughout, with Fairhaven joining- in half a mile from home. Sea Mark was done at three furlongs.. In the 1 straight Vacation challenged Lycky Lee but hung in badlyand failed to reach him by a neck. Fairhaven was two lengths back, and then Royal Don and Picotee. It was a good race, and Vacation and Royal Don should soon be returned as winners, '"■''■■■ii ~ As a race" the Murihiku Handicap was a poor affair. Western Front went away best, and, with most of the others making mistakes, he was almost a furlong in front after going half a mile. He was followed bv Goodwood, Sylvia Moko, and Beatrice Bingen. The leader, stopped badly over the final.half-mile, and Goodwood sailed past , him to win by two lengths, with Beatrice Bingen a length away and then a big gap to Cathedral Rose. ... Lindrum and Erin's Advance were slow away in the Southland Handicap, and Sure took lip the running from Erin's Fair and Margaret Bell. After going five furlongs the last-named joined Sure in front, and they raced in* this order until half a mile from home, where Margaret Bell went on to lead Sure by three lengths, with Erin's Fair. next. Ouee in the straight Sure challenged, and in a good ruhvjfifit Margafct Bell by half a length, with'Eriu's Fair two lengths back and then Liridrum. Sure appeared to score with something in hand. Lucky Leel and Fairhaven led out in the Coldstream Handicap, Black Shadow losing some ground. After half a mile the last-named ran up and joined Lucky Lee in front > from Fairhaven, Teviot Downs, and Carillon Chimes. This was the order to : the straight, where Teviot Downs joined Lucky Lee in front. The pair drew out for a good finish, the trotter beating his opponent by half a length, with Carillon Chimes a length and a-half away, and then Manrico Lee and Fairhaven. Teviot Downs gave a fine display of trotting. Lena Thorpe and Sergeant Dallas began best from King Mac in the Jellicoe Handicap, with Goldficld losing ground. Down the back the two leaders were clear of Erin's Boy, King Mac, Goldfield, and Coldwood. When moving up just before entering the straight Goldfield met

trouble, and Sergeant Dallas retired. Erin's Boy looked a winner at the distance, but with a brilliant burst of speed Goldfield came wide out to beat him by half a length, with Lena Thorpe a length and three-quarters back, and then Sergeant Dallas. It was a particularly brilliant performance by the winner. The early leaders in the Visitors' Handicap were Lohenjrrin, Chiming Billy, Electric Chimes, Chiming, Wave, and Ozanam. Ther e was little change in* a fine race until half a mile: from home, where Man o' Franz joined in, and All Sunshine was putting in great work after a break at the mile contest at i the straight entrance, and the field spread across the track for the run home. A thrilling finish saw Man o' Franz forge to the front to stave off Erin's Chief, who came from well beak, , byV half a length. All Sunshine was a similar* distance back, and then Chiming Billy and Electric Chimes. It was a fine race. All, Sunshine, was unlucky. ~ . ; J ' -:%

/Paul Bingen began the smartest, of the limit horses in. the Waikiwi Handicap,' and quickly opened up a big gap. from Helen's Bay, Goodwood, Lee Boy. and Kippagh. Except that Lee Boy and Kippagh • headed off Goodwood; there was little change in the order. Two furlongs and a-half from home Lee Boy tangled, and this left Helen's Bay ,to run home an easy winner by almost three lengths from Kippagh, with Cathedral Rose a length aWay and then Paul Bingen. Only five paraded for the Au Revoir Handicap. Lena Thorpe and Sunbloora made the running from; Queen Author. At the five furlongs' post Sunbloom went to the front, and was not afterwards troubled to win by two lengths and o-half from Lena Thorpe.. Erin's Fair was 'half, a; length away, a neck' ahead of -Queen' Author, who was not herself., It was. a poor wind-up to an otherwise good meeting, i ■ : .. ~ ■ ■ '.'».'*
