DOG TRIALS

The twenty-fourtß annual dog trials of.the Tahatika Cbllie (3hjb, which were held pnMrW, Scott's property at Owaia Yalley on Wednesday last, .attracted; excellent entries and also a large attendancebf spectators. In spite fact that the course was a difficult bne, the majority of the competitors gave creditable exhibitions,; and the general high standard of the performances;;was favourably commented ott by the Judge (Mr D.,Morgan, :'£e[ Hoiika) 4 who stated that, the; trial work had .improved by more than 100 per cent, the last few years.. The efficient manner: in which all arrangements :v?ere; attended to by the 'committee contributed in no small measure to - the success of the trials, which concluded shortly after 8 p.m.:, A special priie of £1 given by Mr Thomson, of the Import Stores (Bajcluthk), for the competitor gaining most points at the trials and not winning a prize was won by Mr T. R. Hqnt,, and a trophy gift by Mr G. Waruock for; the local competitor gaining most points 'in the maiden event and not winning;a prize was won by" Mr T.'Wi.
