WAIKOUAITI NOTES
(From Oub Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, March 4. A military ball .organised by the local committee of the R.S.A was held on Hrfay evening, a large number bemg present Mr Logan Goodley was M,C. and Ellison s Band supplied danc« music. During an interval vocal solos given, by Mrs M. Tairoa were.well received. Earlier in the week the committee tepdered an evenings entertainment in .the form of' a smoke concert to ex-servicemen at «the military camp. This also was a ■ successful function.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Waikouajti Unemployment Committee was held, last evening, the Rev. T. W. Potts presiding. Among other business transacted one 4a engager ment was approved subject to certain conditions and another, was cancelled. As the Road. Construction Company had absorbed all. suitable unemployed labour in the borough and the County Coupcil. was finding work fog #ll njen w
the county, the committee considered that regular meetings were unnecessary, and it was decided that meetings under the present conditions, would be held only when necessary. PERSONAL. Mr Ray Heenan, who has been engaged in the Waikouaiti cheese factory for some time, has relinquished his position for the purpose of- attending the Otago University.
