MAORIS AND RELIEF WORK DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, December 14. Replying to a deputation of Maoris regarding relief work, the Minister of Employment (Mr A. Hamilton) said there was no desire on the part of the Government to discriminate unfairly between the Maori and the pakeha allocations, but where the Maoris had a piece of land and a dwelling that could mt be overlooked. When the Southern Maori member (Mr E. T. Tirikatene) said it was a liability Mr Hamilton repin'd “ not always.” He could appreciate the fact that rents were not being received. There .was no intention of being harder on the Maori race, but the desire of the Government was to grive a greater allocation where greater need existed.
