BOXING
OXLEY DEFEATS HUGHES. (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, December 13. A verdict on, points was secured by Ted Oxley, 9.21 '(Pahiat)ia) over Archie Hughes, 9.3 J (Auckland) in a bright, clean and even 15 rounds bout at Hastings this evening. Oxley thus retained the New Zealand light-weight title and belt. The bout was one of the best seen here for years, the margin in favour of Oxley being very small. The judges disagreed.
