(From Our . Own Correspondent.) RANFURLY, December 12. HOSPITAL BOARD. The usual meeting of the Mauiototo Hospital Board was held in Ranfurly recently, and was attended by Messrs H, W. Davis (chairman), W. Strong, T, A. Lowis, Robert Scott, M.L.C., Edward Morgan, and P. Aitken, members of the board. Dr Budey also attended the meeting. Apologies for absence on account of pressure of business were received from Messrs T. Dowling and N. Nicblson. Correspondence. Letters were received from the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee advising of the discharge of two patients gnd of the admission of another patient from the Maniototo district. The Department of Health wrote stating that approval was given to the sale of the 1 old hospital building and land for the sum of 1250, and also that the removal of the isolation block from Naseby to Ranfurly was approved, expenditure in connection with the removal not ■to exceed £3OO in the meantime.

Letters were received from the Department of Health and the Nurses and Midwives’ Registration Board approving the appointment of Mies E. Taylor, of Fairlie, to the position of matron. The doctor reported that there were five males and 10 females in the hospital at the date of the last return, while four and 10 respectively had since been admitted, making 29 treated. Seven males and 13 females were discharged during the month, leaving nine under treatment. Three babies were • born in the hospital during the month. The doctor also reported that numerous gifts had been received from the Women’s Guild, for which the hospital was very grateful, and it was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write a letter of thanks to the secretary of the guild. Reference was made to the complaints received from patients of the noise made by aeroplanes landing and taking off on the grounds adjacent to the hospital, and it was resolved to write to the Maniototo County Council requesting that the landing ground be altered to a spot where the noise would not interfere with the comfort of patients. The secretary reported that the receipts for the month of November amounted to £176 2s 3d, and the debit balance as at December 1 was £lO4 4s 9d. Accounts and salaries amounting to £791 15s Id were passed for payment. ■ CRICKET. The Maniototo Cricket Association games were continued on Saturday in very hot weather. Naseby 95 (Dryden 24, Dixon 16, M. Marslin 15, Jacob 10; Borthwick five for 24, Gibson four for 15) defeated Waipiata 41 (J. Marslin six for 11, Daly two for 6, and Winchester one for 4). Patearoa B 160 (F. Thurlow 41 retired, M'Atamney 36, W. Thurlow 34. V. Greer 20; C. Knowles four for 47. Henry two for 22, Cunningham ,two for 22) defeated Tipper Kyeburn 32 (W. Henry 11; F. Thurlow five for 16, W. M'Atamney four for 12).

COMMUNITY SING AND DANCE. In the Patearoa Hall on Saturday evening a large crowd attended the community sincr and dance in aid of the school prize fund, the satisfactory sum of over £8 being raised, and the children’s items being much appreciated by those present. Mr Ivan Mathias led the singing, and Mrs A. Keegan officiated at the piano.
