(From Our Own Correspondent.) QUEENSTOWN, December T 2.SERIOUS DROUGHT. The present long spell of dry weather is having a serious effect on the crops throughout the district and it is feared that another fortnight without rain will ruin the grain completely. On Sunday there was every appearance of a pending change in the weather and rain fell in the evening, but there was hardly enough to dampen the ground, and hot weaiber again prevailed the, following day, with a rising barometer.-..' Inquiries in the surrounding district disclose a very grave position and the opinion is unanimous that unless the drought breaks within a fortnight' the crops: will ,be destroyed. Already they are burning up in the districts that have not the benefits of irrigation.
