She Is due back here tomorrow* morning and will sail the same day for Napier, Gisborne and Tauranga, via ports. The P. and 0. liner Strathaird arrived at Fremantle on December 5 from London. She Is scheduled to reach Sydney on December 14. - The Federal Line steamer Cumberland left Auckland last Thursday night for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool an v d Glasgow. , The Melbourne Maru arrived at Wellington last -Thursday from Geelong. The motor tanker Varanger Is due at Lyttelton on December 14 from San Pedro, with a cargo of motor spirit for the Gilmore Oil Company (New Zealand), Limited. The vessel will discharge also on the company’s account at Wellington and Auckland. WAIKOUAITI FOR AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Walkouaitl, from Newcastle, Sydney and Hobart, arrived at Bluff on Saturday evening. The vessel is due at Dunedin to-morrow, and after discharging general cargo will sail' for Tlmaru and Lyttelton to complete discharge. MAUNGANUI FROM SAN FRANCISCO. The Union Company has received a wireless message from the R.M.S. Maunganul, en route from • San Francisco, Papeete and Rarotonga, reporting that she expects to arrive at Wellington this morning. She will leave the northern port to-morrow afternoon for Sydney. PAKEHA FOR NAPIER. The Shaw, Savin steamer Pakeha, after loading butter, cheese, wool and other products besides more than 250 stud sheep consigned to South America, sailed from Port Chalmers on Saturday morning for Napier to complete loading. She is schedule! to leave Napier finally on December 15 for London, via Cape Horn. RANGITIKI HOMEWARD BOUND. The Rangltlkl, which left Napier on November- 17 for London, passed through the Panama canal on December 5. . NARBADA FROM EASTERN PORTS. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the chartered steamer Narbada left Calcutta on December 4.‘ She ’ will not now proceed to Rangoon, but will call at Singapore to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Tlmaru, Dunedin and Bluff. The vessel Is due at Auckland on January 4. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER. The Canadian Highlander, cn route from Montreal, via Australia, Is due to arrive at Wellington on December 21 or 22. She will proceed to Lyttelton, Tlmaru and Dunedin to load wool, and will clear this port on January 3, sailing for New York, Boston and Halifax. CANADIAN SCOTTISH RADIOS. The Canadian Scottish, from Montreal, was due at Auckland yesterday. She will sail today for Wellington, where she is due on Thursday, and will sail the same day for New York, ‘Boston and Halifax, via Australia. MARIPOSA’S SAILING. The Mariposa’s next trip from Australia to the Pacific Coast has been delayed. The liner now leaves Melbourne on Wednesday and Sydney three days later for Los Angeles and San Francisco. She is due at Auckland oif December 19. TAINUI FROM ENGLAND. The Shaw, Savill Company has received a wireless message from the liner Talnul, en route from London and'Southampton, via Kingston and the Panama canal, to Auckland and Wellington, reporting that she expects to reach Auckland at 7 a.m. to-day. The Talnul Is due at Wellington on December 16 to complete discharge of her London cargo and to commence Homeward loading.

ABEL TASMAN AKRIVES. The Intercolonial steamer Abel Tasman arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Clarence River and Sydney, via Wellington and Lyttelton. The vessel, which is making her first visit to this port. Is of 2042 tons gross register, and Is owned by H. C. Sleigh, Ltd., of Sydney. Her freight comprises timber and general cargo. The Abel Tasman will sail about to-morrow for Westport and Sydney. Captain C. G. Turner Is In command of the vessel. TANKER TEAKWOOD IN PORT. With a part cargo of bulk petrol for the Associated Motorists’ Petrol Company, the British tanker Teakwood arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Batum (Russia), via Suez, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf. When the Teakwood arrived at Auckland she had nearly 8000 tons of petrol on board. The vessel sailed from Batum on' October 10, and she called at Istambul (Constantinople) on October 13 for orders. She passed through the Suez Canal on October 18 • and cleared Aden on October 24. Except for strong winds experienced in the Great Australian Bight generally fair weather prevailed during her 9000 miles’ nonstop run from Aden to Auckland. The Teakwood has 1500 tons of petrol for discharge at Dunedin. PERSONAL ITEMS. Captain I. Dalziell, formerly mate of the Calm, Is now In command of the Fox ton. Captain R. M. Kane has returned to the command of the Tamahlne, replacing Captain W. A. Gray. Captain S. Holm has relieved Captain A. Copeland as master of the Holmdale. Captain J. Bruce Is now In command of the Kalmiro, relieving Captain A. S. Dalgllesh. Mr M. M. M’Arthur has joined the Holmdale as first mate, relieving Mr H. S. S. Curtiss. Mr L. Reid is relieving Mr N. L. Mackie as third officer of the Kanna. BAROONA AS MOTOR SHIP. The work of reconstructing the small steamer Baroona and converting her Into a motor vessel Is nearly completed at Auckland, and the vessel Is to sail for Norfolk Island about the end of this week, after being Idle at the northern port for some years. Built at Newcastle 29 years ago, and designed as a trawler, the Baroona was brought to New Zealand two years later, and for several years was employed in the passenger and cargo service between Helensvllle and Dargavllle. Afterwards the vessel was brought to Auckland and for a short period traded to the Islands. Then she was sold to Sanford, Limited, and used as a trawler. For several years she was engaged In fishing. then being withdrawn from commission and anchored In the stream. The vessel was Idle until last April, when she was brought Into Freeman’s Bay for refitting. Since then her engines and holler have been removed and replaced by Diesel engines. Considerable alterations have been made below and on deck, the vessel being fitted with several cabins and the foremast from the old mission steamer Southern Cross. The Baroona’s future movements after she makes a trip to Norfolk Island have not been announced.
