THE SANDERS CUP
TROPHY RETURNED TO DONORS (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 30. The Sanders Memorial Cup has been returned to the donors, Messrs Walker and Hall, Ltd., by the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association in accordance with the decision made at a meeting of the association on November 7. The cup was formally handed by the chairman of the association to Mr J. Hislop, manager in Auckland for Messrs Walker and Hall. “ The cup will be sent to the New Zealand Council in Christchurch,” said Mr Hislop. “As far as I know, the contest will be carried out in February, and I trust that Auckland, which will not have lost anything by doing so, will send a boat to take part in the races. If this is done the trouble will be buried and forgotten. If a challenge is made from Auckland that has the endorsement of the association I understand it will be well received in Christchurch, and if that is so, then it will be the end of the whole trouble. For the sake of the name of Sanders, I would like to see the contest carried on.”
