OBITUARY
SIR DRUMMOND CHAPLIN CAPETOWN, November 16. The death is announced of Sir Drummond Chaplin. Sir Drumond Chaplin was born in 1860. lie was admitted as a barrister at Lincoln’s Inn in 1891. From 1897 to 1898 he acted as correspondent of The Times at Johannesburg, and for the Morning Post at St. Petersburg from 1899 to 1900. He was manager at Johannesburg for the Consolidated Goldfields of South Africa, Ltd., from 1900 to 1914. He was a member of the Transvaal Legislative Assembly from 1907 to 1910, member of the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa from 1910 to 1914, and. from 1924 to 1929. He was Administrator of Southern Rhodesia from 1914 to 1923, and Northern Rhodesia from 1921 to 1923.
