LONDON, September 20.
Hodson surprisingly defeated Padgham in the News of the World golf tournament. Cotton defeated Kenyon in the morning and Button in the afternoon in the third round, 5 and 4. Other results were as follows: Alliss beat Sherlock, 5 and 4. Hodson beat Padgham, 1 up. Green beat Firkins, 2 up. Seymour beat Rees, 2 and 1. Compston beat Watts, 5 and 3. Ballantino, Davies, C. Whitcombe, R. Whitcombe, and Denny were eliminated in the second round. Alliss will meet Cotton on Thursday.
