Jack Tidball (California) defeated Quist, 6—4, 6—2; Turnbull defeated Charles Otis (Pasadena), 6—3, 4—6, 6—3; Van Ryn defeated Wilde (England), 6—4, 6—l; Stoeffen defeated Lee, B—lo,8 —10, B—6, 6—o; Vines defeated Itoh (Japan), 6—l, 6—4. Miss Round defeated Mrs Ethel Arnold (Los Angeles), 7—5, 6—2, in the third round of the Women’s Singles. Quist was unable to handle Tidball’s fast service and counting shots to the baseline. He was eliminated in straight sets.

Turnbull had a difficult time in defeating Otis in three sets. After playing on fairly even terms in the first two sets the Australian continued to play steadily, while his opponent faltered in the third set.

Quist and Turnbull drew a bye for the Men’s Doubles, which started today.
