THE DESTRUCTION OF DOGS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In the interest of dogs, which I look upon as friends of mankind, 1 wish also to protest against the destruction of ’ dogs that has been going on in Port Chalmers. The mountains are the real places for sheep—not places where there are private dwellings. People have as much right to demand protection for their dogs as to demand protection for sheep. There is an old saying that a person’s nature shows itself in his treatment of dumb animals. —I am, etc.,
