SPLITTING OF THE ATOM
A THEORY EXPLODED LONDON, September 11. (Received Sept. 12, at 9 p.m.) Lord Rutherford, speaking at the British Association, said that though the atom could be split into at least 80 constituents experiments had proved to be moonshine the hopes of those who expected that the splitting would release the mighty energy of Nature.
