CHEQUE BOOK FRAUDS
NINE CHARGES ADMITTED OLD OFFENDER IMPRISONED. (Per United Press Association.) ROTORUA, September 7. An habitual criminal, Robert James Brydon, aged 55 years, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day to nine charges of issuing valueless cheques, obtaining credit by fraud at Rotorua, Hamilton and Ngaruawahia. He was sentenced to nine months by the magistrate. The police stated that the accused stole a cheque book at Dargaville, and started a career of false pretences. Rotorua boarding houses were victimised. His previous sentences, the terms of which were concurrent, totalled 24 years in a period of 38 years.
