LOCAL ACTIVITIES GROUPS TO REPORT Reserves Department. —Group No. CO4, engaged under the No. 5 scheme, will report for work at the Opoho Foot.ball Ground to-day at 8 a.m. No. 1 DEPOT The depot at North-East Valley continues to be busy though the winter pressure is now slackening. Since last report Mr Sanders has, through business reasons, resigned as representative. on the Central Executive. Mr J. C. Laing, who has been closely associated with the depot since it was opened, now represents the district. The food depot at the Salvation Army Barracks still continues to be very busy, and, at times, it is difficult to meet the demands made upon it. Adjutant Bartlc acknowledges, with thanks, the following donations:—Kirkpatrick and Co., case of jam; Fleming and Co., carton of oatmeal. The following parcels have recently been received: — Williamson, 19; Petterson, 4; Kilgaroff, 8; Purchase, 8; Dolphin, 4; M'Farlane, 6; Crawford, 4; Ferguson, 19; Thompson (Gardens), 4; Harris, 1; Hughes, 33; Thompson, 84; Rev. Wilcox, 03; Wardell, 3; Harvey, 24; Pcttit, 2; Mowat, 11; Fleming, 2; Mrs Garbutt, 3; Mrs Linklater, 1. For these also thanks are expressed. It is intended to hold the annual meeting at an early date. CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH Unemployed men and their wives will be admitted to the Police v. Law match, which is to be held at Carisbrook tomorrow, for the sum of 3d each, on production of their unemployment cards. Children of unemployed, if accompanied by a parent, will be admitted free. No. 2 DEPOT A: meeting of the committee of the No. 2 Depot was held recently, the Rev. E. S. Tuckwell, chairman, presiding. The Ladies' Committee reported gifts from Mrs Lory, Fleming Bros. (Gore), Mrs Barningham, Miss Theomin, Miss M'Kerras, Mrs. . Fitchett, Mrs Williams, Miss Cook, Sir James Allen, Sister Jean, Central Depot (jam), Miss Stark, Mrs Cook, Mrs Cox, Miss Russell, Mrs Boyle, Mrs Dryden, Miss E. Fox, All Saints' Guild, Unemployed Girls' Club, Mrs Millar, Home Science students, Messrs Gordon and Gotch, and A. Barnett. Donations of second-hand goods, especially men's clothes, will be gratefully received and acknowledged. The following are also urgently required:— Two prams, two cots, and a single bed. The reports from the various officers showed that 325 mcatibooklets have been issued, 475 workers receive subsidised coal, and 3C3 are receiving subsidised clothing and boots. CITIZENS* BALL AT MOSGIEL To assist the Mosgiel Mayor's Relief Fund a citizens? ball was held at Mongicl last evening in the Coronation Hall. The Mayor (Mr A. F. Quelch) and bis committee must have been gratified at the results-—some 170 couples dnrtcing ro the strains of M'Leod's Orchestra. The hall presented a pretty picture; tasteful decorations having been arranged by the local unemployed. The effect produced did. them credit. Six.young men carried out the duties of M.C., and a Ladies' Committes provided supper. The local residents gave all that was necessary, for supper, and the committee in charge expresses sincere thanks for same. The Taieri Highland Pipe Band and the Mosgiel Municipal Band assisted. throughout the evening.
