SWEEPSTAKE WINNERS

MOUNT EDEN SYNDICATE SEVEN PERSONS INTERESTED. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, September 6. The Auckland ticket which won the first prize of £6OOO in the sweepstake drawn at Hobart is owned by a syndicate of Mount Eden residents. As there are seven members in it each person will receive £857 2s lOd. According to advice received in Auckland the prize was said to have been drawn by “Money Wanted,” care of T. D. A., Auckland. The initials are these of Mr T. D. Anderson, men’s outfitter, of Mount Eden, who stated that six other persons besides himself had shares in the ticket. He declined to divulge the names of the other members of the syndicate, saying he had not their permission to do so. One of the seven holders of shares in the ticket, however, is Mrs G. H. Greenwood, of Sandringham, and another is Mr Alexander Reid, of Kohimarama. Both stated that beyond the announcement in the Herald they had no confirmation of their success. It is not now the custom to notify prize winners by cable, so that until the result slip arrives by mail the holders of the ticket are unlikely to receive any official notification from Hobart. Mr Anderson has been in the habit of getting up tickets in the Hobart sweepstakes for some considerable time. As each ticket costs 5s 6d, plus the cost of transfer, each of the seven holders will receive £857 for the expenditure of approximately one shilling.
