RUMBERG DEFEATS PEREIRA. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 6. Hal Rumberg beat A 1 Pereira in a professional wrestling contest to-nigbt. Pereira took the first fall in the fourth round with a series of flying tackles. Rumberg evened in the seventh with hcadlock slams followed by a press. After a fierce eighth round the referee gave Rumberg the decision on points, but lus verdict was unpopular. The attendance was fair. VARGA DEFEATS OSWALD. (Per United Press Association.) HASTINGS, September 6. A comparatively light but effective back loop slam brought a sudden ending to the wrestling contest to-night between Count Varga and Hank Oswald, the former cleverly trapping the American in the fifth round to gain the only fall of the fight. Oswald was unable to continue, though he recovered 30 minutes later. The bout was exciting at times, a Dig crowd enjoying the sidelights which inteispersed a period of strenuous, scientific wrestling.
