LEVEL CROSSING SMASH
TRAIN STRIKES MILK LORRY DRIVER'S REMARKABLE ESCAPE. /(Per United Press Association.) PUKEKOHE, September 5. The level crossing at Paerata on the Main Trunk line was the scene of an accident this morning. The . south.bound Rotorua express crashed into a cream-laden lorry. The driver, Bert Adams, a married man, living at Drury, had a miraculous escape. He was hurled right over the cab of the railway engine and fell on the side of the line. He was sent to the hospital suffering from facial injuries, a deep cut on the body, and shock. The lorry was smashed to pieces. The express engine was damaged, and the train was delayed for 75 minutes until another engine had been obtained.
