“K” CUP FINALISTS
OTAGO HOCKEY TEAM HONOURED The members of the Otago Ladies' hockey team, which tied with Canterbury in the contest for the " K " Cup, were entertained ta a complimentary dinner in the Otago Women's Club last evening by Mrs R. Hudson, the president of the Otago Ladies' Hockey Association. In addition to the members of the team the guests" included the manager (Mr Farrell), the chaperon (Miss Hill), the selector (Mr D. Miller), and the members of the executive of the Otago Ladies Hockev Association. In congratulating the team on its success Mrs Hudson said that she had promised the Otago team a dinner if it ever won the " K " Cup, and the function that evening was the fulfilment of that •promise: She was proud of the team and she felt that it had worked hard to gain the honour. Mr Farrell responded on behalf of the team, which he said had played excellent hockey and had proved itself a fine combination. Mr Miller expressed the assurance that the bringing of the " K " Cup to Dunedin would help hockey wonderfully in this centre, as there were many young players who were qualifying for representative honours, and he was sure they could produce as good teams in future years. Other toasts honoured were the selector, and the Canterbury team, and at the conclusion of the function Mr Farrell and Mrs 6. A. / Nelson spoke of the excellent work Mrs Hudson had performed for the sport in Dunedin, the hostess's health being drunk with musical honours.
