STRIKE IN HAVANA
“A SEDITIOUS MOVEMENT” THE PRESIDENT’S THREAT. HAVANA (Cuba), August 4. President Machado signed an edict today describing the transportation strike now threatening the city’s regular sources of food supplies as “ a seditious movement.” He threatened to suspend the constitutional guarantees again and declare martial law and a state of war unless the strike was brought to a quick end.
