The cold supply of the Bank of Inter national Settlements, at Basle, Switzer land, amounts to one 25-cent gold piece, minted in San Francisco in 1852. This coin was given, to the bank by a. friend when he learned that the bank’s vaults contained no precious metal. The bank’s gold holdings are stored in other banks. King Alexander, of Jugoslavia, was godfather at the christening of the fifteenth child of Peter Kubek, a peasant farmer, of Ruma. The child, a boy, is Peter’s ninth son, and Peter was the ninth son in his family.
