PORT CHALMERS NEWS

SCOUT CONCERT A concert and display by Girl Guides and the Port Chalmers Sea Scouts was greatly appreciated by a fairly large audience in the Town Hall on Thursday night. The local companies were assisted by the St. Martin’s troop of Boy Scouts from Dunedin. The concert was opened by the St. Martin’s Scouts with a camp fire display. A very happy hour was then spent in song and story, interspersed with musical items. A rope swinging

item was much appreciated, The Port Chalmers Girl Guides contributed the playette “ Old Mother Jenkins.” This was very amusing, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. A soprano solo by a St. Martin’s Scout was rendered in a pleasing manner, as was -also a recitation by a Sea Scout. Commissioner M'Calluni briefly addressed the audience. Ho stated that he intended to give « lantern lecture on the last jamboree held in England and also a display in the near future. At the conclusion of the performance Scoutmaster Maxwell thanked all those who had assisted to make the concert so successful and enjoyable.
