TALK OVER RADIO

UNUSUAL CHARGE DISMISSED BAD ADVICE FOR MOTORISTS. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 4. An unusual charge, that of encouraging unknown persons to obstruct the police, wa,s brought against George Campbell in the Police Court as the sequel to a talk on motoring given by him over the radio. The police alleged that Campbell advised motorists when they had an accident and a policeman arrived not to make any statement to him. The magistrate (Mr W. R. MTCean). said Campbell had been extremely stupid in his remarks, and possibly gave bad advice, but the evidence was not sufficient for a conviction on the charge as laid. If any person acted on his advice it would make it worse for that person, Campbell assured the magistrate that he had the greatest respect for the police, and his talk had been misunderstood. The charge wms dismissed.
