(Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 3. “ I don’t want to go to England. I want to go to Australia,” declared Edward Hewitt, aged 52, a native of Cheshire, who was a stowaway on the Matakana. Hewitt was sentenced by Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., to three weeks’ imprisonment and ordered to be placed aboard the first ship belonging to the same company—the Shaw, Savill Company—leaving for England. Hewitt hid himself among the coal in the bridge space when the Matakana was at Cannes on July 27 and gave himself up next day at sea. The Matakana arrived at Now Plymouth this morning.
