WOMEN'S LATEST FASHIONS » LONDON, July 23. The latest economic innovation in women’s dressing is the use of cellophone paper frocks. Parisiennes are planning back to dignity fashions for autumn and winter, says the Daily > Mail fashion editress. This is most notable in hats, which are abandoning the hard brimless type, while the beret has been revived, often with a brim narrowing to the front, with most interest centring on the trimming at the back. Some berets are made from sections of a glove, stitched together. Others are like the headgear of a mandarin, with the end point finished with a button or silk tassel. Eccentric types include crowns cut in halves, like .battlements, also the new “ long hair ribbon,” suggesting that the wearer has crushed a conical wig of long coarse hair over her eyes, like an inverted coconut. All of the new models tilt back showing much of the hair. Side trimmings include handwork ornaments, notably jewelled pins and brooches made in Paris, one worn in the hat and the other in the gown. Feathers are being revived, and some exotic plumes are worn on formal occasions. Velvet will be the chief material for millinery, and will be also used in coats and frocks.
