It Is probable that the rule which you quote from the twenty-ninth edition of " Hoyle Up-to-Date" has confused others as It has apparently confused yourself. In the twenty-sixth edition, on which our original answer was based, the rule definitely says: " There is no count for the last card If It makes 31.” The latest edition (the thirtysecond, published last year) says :—" The Go.—The player who approaches most nearly to 31. during the play, scores 1 point; if he roaches exactly 31, 2 points. If the last card that can be played makes 15 it scores 3 points—flftecn-2 and 1 for ' go.’ ” If the player making 31 with his last card was entitled to 1 for ” go ” the words “ or 31 ” would have been included after the figures " 15 ” in the last .sentence of the rule quoted.
