DAMAGES AWARDED
SEQUEL TO MOTOR ACCIDENT
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 2.
Following the jury’s verdict in assessing damages at £864 7s to the plaintiff, Richard Park, both counsel moved for judgment in a case brought in the Supreme Court to-day against Joseph Louis Tiehard, an engineer, as the result of an accident on the Maxine parade, Napier, early on the evening of July 14 last year. The matter was reserved for legal argument. Park, who was crossing the road behind a bus from which he had just alighted, was knocked down by a motor car travelling in the Opposite direction. The jury found that both parties were negligent, but that the defendant’s negligence was the effective cause of the accident.
