ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS
“ Otago Central.”—The address is Mr Edwin Gilmour, 214 Pitt street, Sydney. “ Relief Worker’s Wife,” South Dunedin. —As your letter has appeared elsewhere It is inadmissible in our columns. Inquiries show that owing to the lack of accommodation at the No. 4 depot In South Dunedin the articles collected by the commercial travellers could not be separated from the goods usually stocked by the depot. Some of the articles collected last Saturday were sold (if the nominal amount collected can be regarded as constituting a sale) contrary to the wishes of the commercial travellers, which the Mayor's relief organisation endorsed. The ladles’ relief organisation in South Dunedin has for some time been making a small charge for clothing, and the experience Is that this practice has resulted not only In a more equitable distribution but In making the goods available to the most deserving.
