With the assistance of three terriers and eight ferrets she keeps down the rat pest of the Birmingham municipal parks and buildings. Mrs Cash can tell at a glance whether a rat is of the canal, field, house, or factory variety. In her sitting room is a glass containing the stuffed remains of Slinky, her favourite ferret, showing it being killed by a rat. Her hobby is keeping mice as pets.
