A discovery likely to reveal an important secret of the vanished cities of the Scriptures has been made in Palestine through the pluck of a young Sudanese „i, l named Salome. The discovery was at Tell Duweir, where the Garstang expedition which Sir Charles Marston financed, has been excavating. Sir Charles said: “ \Vhen Salome had excavated a shaft to a depth of 50ft she was hauled to the surface, and workmen were sent down suspended by ropes. After large boulders had been removed a well nearly 250 ft deep, containing 18ft. of water, was disclosed, the well contains excellent water, and appears to have been made at a very early date in the history of the city.”
