WRESTLING

AN EXCITING MATCH. DEMONSTRATION BY CROWD. ' "(Pes United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 31. There have been some remarkable scenes connected with wrestling at 'the Town Hall since the sport became so popular with the public during the pastfew years, but they were exceeded tonight when George Walker and Harry Mamos contested a drawn match. .No falls had been registered up to the seventh round, when Walker headlocked his opponent. Both went sprawling through the ropes and fell off the staging on to the floor in front of the stalls. The referee counted the regulation 20 seconds, and as neither man had returned to the ring within that time he declared the match drawn. , Being unacquainted with the rules, many of the occupants of the stage, stalls, and gallery rose to their feet and hooted loudly. Policemen, medical men, and officials of the association rushed to and fro across the stage apparently undecided as to the actual position. The wrestlers returned to the ring gesticulating. After some minutes had elapsed the referee, having left the ring and gone to his dressing room, was prevailed upon by members of the association to return to the ring, and a final rjouiid was contested. The official announcer declared on behalf of the committee that each man had been awarded a fall, and with the consent of the wrestlers the bout was resumed. At the end of the eighth round, however, no fall had been secured by either man. and so the contest ended in a draw. The referee would not give a decision on points.
