WAINUI FROM MELBOURNE. The Wainui is due at Dunedin this morning from Melbourne, via Bluff, to discharge general cargo. She will sail this afternoon for Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington to complete discharge. RHYMNEY WITH GUANO. Messrs A. S. Paterson and Co. advise that the steamer Rhymney has sailed from the Seychelles Islands for Port Chalmers. She Is carrying 7/8000 tons of guano for New Zealand ports. CARGO FROM THE EAST. The Union Company's chartered steamer Narbada is scheduled to leave Calcutta early this month for Penang, Singapore, and Samarang to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. THE CANADIAN VICTOR. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Victor was scheduled to leave Montreal on July 28 for Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane. WAIKAWA LEAVES RAROTONGA. The Union Company's Waikawa, en route from Los Angeles, left Rarotonga at 1 a.m. on July 26 for Aitu, Mauko, and Aitutaki to complete loading fruit. She is due at Auckland on August 5, and will later proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australia to complete discharge of her Pacific coast cargo. GUANO FROM SEYCHELLES ISLANDS. Messrs A. S. Paterson and Co. advise that the Nolisemcnt is due at Maho on August 3 and will load 7000 tons of guano for Bluff. The barque Plus has been chartered to load at Denis Island for London. THERESA WARD SOLD. - The Bluff Harbour Board's tug Theresa Ward has been sold to Australian buyers. Captain Cartner will arrive at Wellington to-day by the Wanganella to deliver the vessel, to her new owners. v TAMABOA AT SOUTHAMPTON. The Tamaroa, which left Wellington on June 24, arrived at Southampton on the afternoon of July 27. OTIRA LEAVES MONTEVIDEO. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tekoa was to leave Liverpool on July 29 with cargo from west coast ports of Great Britain for Auckland, .Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, New Plymouth, and Nelson. She is duo at Auckland about September 6. SHOAL IN COOK STRAIT. The Marine Department reports that Captain Henry, of the auxiliary scow Talisman, advises that a shoal patch exists in a position approximately one mile in a south-east by east, threequarter east magnetic direction from Wellington Head. The position* indicated on chart 2685 is 41deg 12£min south, 174dcg 24min east. Wellington Head bearing 314 deg. STEAMER CYGNET SOLD. The small steamer Cygnet* which has been sold "j be broken up for scrap metal, was offered for sale by public auction at Lyttelton on December 21, 1921. At the same time and place the steamer John Anderson was offered for sale.

When put up for auction In 1921 the Cygnet was engaged in the Banks Peninsula, Kalkoura, and Motueka trade. She had been fitted with new plates and reconditioned. The bidding at auction did not result in a satisfactory price being offered and the vessel was passed in, but the next day she was,sold privately to a Christchurch syndicate for £SOOO. The John Anderson was sold at auction for £2500, and was bought by a West Coast purchaser for the whitebait canning industry on the West Coast. „
