ROYAL DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR
On Monday evening, at the Town Hall, an opportunity will be presented to musiclovers at the Male Choir’s first concert of the present season to hear again Mr Rees M'Conachv, the accomplished violinist, who has already given a concert in Dunedin. He will present two bracketed items, a quaint melody, “Gavotte in F Major” (Bach-Kreislcr), and two lovely movements of Arthur Hartman’s adaptation of Corelli’s “Adagio and Allegro.” The latter is interesting because it. was .Hartman’s artistic interest in Mr M’Conaehy which introduced him to the violinist’s art. In (he second part of the programme Mr M’Conachy’s items are Variations on a theme by Corelli (Tar-fini-Kreislor) and “Legcndo” (Wieniawski). The choir’s contributions include four entriely now and effective part songs and four which have been previously sung. The gem of these, a Russian hymn, “Jubilate,” has been arranged by Dr Galway for male voices. It has an organ accompaniment with a baritone solo for Mr Cecil S. Hawes. Miss Clare Dillon is the lady soloist. Her first item is the “ Ave Maria,” by BachGounod, Miss Anna Briasco accompanying with a. violin obbligato, and her second an excerpt from Verdi. Mr John D. MTvechnic is the bass and Mr Rowland W. Dunbar the tenor.
