WORK ON WATERFRONT
MORE EQUAL DISTRIBUTION NATIONAL UNION PROPOSED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 5. A meeting of waterside workers today decided to put in operation a. proposal which was the subject of a ballot last month on the question of more equal distribution of work on the waterfront. The meeting decided to authorise the union’s representatives on the Local Disputes Committee to negotiate with the employers with a view to inaugurating a suitable scheme for a period of nix months in which to formulate and put the scheme into operation. The meeting also decided to take a ballot among' the Wellington men on July 14 on a proposal for the forma cion of a national union in place of the (iresent federation of unions.
