THE KAMCHATKA CASE
KILLING OF FISHERMEN SOVIET GUARDS RESPONSIBLE. TOKIO, July 4. Officials consider that the Kamchatka fishermen killing case has been satisfactorily settled. Moscow has admitted that the coastguards were guilty. The Soviet has promised to punish them and iceompensc the bereaved families. A previous message from Tokin read: Complaint is made of the Soviet obstructing civil investigations subsequent to the killing of unarmed fishermen who were trying to land at Kamchatka to obtain drinking water on behalf of a distressed vessel, of which the Japanese navy has secured indisputable proof. The Soviet Ambassador lodged a protest against a Japanese warship intruding in territorial waters, but the Japanese navy threatens to increase the guards who protect fishermen. Considerable tension is developing.
