ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the St. John Ambulance Association was held on Monday. Dr A. R. Falconer occupied the chair. In opening the meeting the chairman made feeling reference to the death of the secretary (Mr D. H. Rogers). A motion of sympathy with Mrs Rogers and family was passed in silence. A letter from the secretary of the Services Queen Committee inviting the associatiou to participate iu the forthcoming queen carnival for the purpose of raising funds for the unemployed was received. —It was decided that the association would assist in any way po* sible. The secretary reported that alterations to the ambulauccs, making provision for extra transport facilities, had been completed. First aid outfits had boon applied for and supplied to several outlying relief workers’ camps. Further applications were on hand, one being from Lindis Pass Camp, where between 70 and 80 men were employed, and the nearest medical aid was 47 miles away. Instructions were given that the outfit be forwarded immediately, and that the matter of first aid equipment for camps should be placed before the Labour Department. The district nurses reported 444 visits to 41 patients. There had been one death and seven new patients had been enrolled. The ambulances received 117 calls and had travelled 1097 miles. The North-East Valley home nursing class commenced on June 19 with Sister Smith as lecturer. The Queenstown first aid class was examined on June 23 by Doctors W. Anderson and RFulton. The Milton class was to be examined by Dr Edgar. The Clamant home nursing class was examined by Dr Butler, and recorded 20 passes.
