CUSTOMS RETURNS

♦ —— FIGURES FOR DUNEDIN. The following are the Customs returns for the month ended June 30, with the figures for the quarter which elided on the same date. The figures for the corresponding periods last year are given for the purposes of comparison (shillings and pence are omitted): —

THE AUCKLAND FIGURES. (Feb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. June 30. The Customs revenue collected at Auckland in June amounted to £153,992, compared with £157.777 for June of last year. The total revenue for the six months to June 30 was £1,034,018, compared with £958,673 during the first six months of last year. The revenue from motor spirit in June was £34,803 and from tyre duty £2737 compared with £34,821 and £2239 respectively in June 1932. The beer excise figures were £8514, compared with £9243 for the same month of last year. The collections of sales tax in June were £39,937, making the total to date £142,005. FIGURES FOR WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 30. The Customs revenue collected in Wellington in June totalled £148,706, compared with £156,940 in June, 1932. For the six months the revenue totalled £926,021, compared with £1,035,615 for the corresponding period last year. Motor spirits yielded £28,606 at 6d per gallon, compared with £29,261 and £19,071 at 4d, which was included in the net Customs revenue. Tyre tax yielded £1613, compared with £1406. Beer excise collections were £3314, compared with £3606, and the sales tax for June totalled £45,434. The total sales tax so far collected in Wellington amounts to £160,402. CHRISTCHURCH RETURNS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. June 30. All the revenue collected by the- Customs Department at Christchurch this month, with the exception of the petrol tax, showed increases in comparison with June of 1932.
