Seven telephone girls at the Miyake Post Office, in Tokio, are hailed as the heroines of the recent Japanese earthquake and tidal wave disaster. When the population of the city rushed to the hills for safety, knowing that the land would be flooded, the girls remained fct their post telephoning to Tokio and other cities for help. Though the waters were swirling through the streets the girls refused to leave their posts, and when the danger passed the terrified citizens returned and fouCd the seven still at the switchboard.
