(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, June 30. YOUNG PEOPLE'S OWN. Mr E. Griffiths was the speaker at the Young People’s Own meeting licit! on Wednesday evening, the subject being “My Holiday in Ireland.” The speaker’s vacation of six weeks in Ireland enabled him lo assimilate much of deep interest, and the large audience was taken on a delightful trip round the Emerald Isle. A half-hour’s community sing, led by Mr Griffiths, with Miss Summers as pianist, closed one of the most successful meetings of the session. UNEMPLOYMENT. As compared with June of 1032 the unemployment position here shows a distinct improvement, there being 54 registrations in the district under the jurisdiction of the Waikouaiti Unemployment Committee as present, as against 78 in Juno of last year. The engagements under scheme 4a also show a decline, the number in June, 1032, being 24, as against 12 in the present month. Of the 04 men employed under the No. 5 scheme 20 arc with public bodies and 34 “ over the fence.”
