CLOSING OF HOSPITAL

OFFSPRING OF TROTTING CLUB RESOLUTIONS OF PROTEST. (Per United Press Association.) CARTERTON, June 29. The stewards of the Wairarapa Trotting Club last nighj viewed with strong disapproval the proposed action of the Wairarapa Hospital Hoard in closing the South Wairarapa Hospital, which the club looks upon as its own offspring. The trotting club was first founded with the object of providing funds for the hospital, and over a period of many years it contributed thousands of pounds. The following resolutions were passed unanimously, the first to be sent to the Minister and the second to the Hospital Board:— “That a protest bo sent the Minister of Health against the decision of the Wairarapa Hospital Board to close the South Wairarapa Hospital, and that he be asked to veto such a proposal. This club was first founded for the purpose of assisting the South Wairarapa Hospital, and for many .years the hospital received very tangible annual' assistance from the club’s efforts.” “ That this meeting of the Wairarapa Trotting Club respectfully requests the Wairarapa Hospital Board to reconsider its decision to close ’the South Wairarapa Hospital, in view of the fact that this club was first founded for the purpose of assisting the hospital from its profits, and over a period of years has paid a very substantial amount into the hospital funds.”
