WRESTLING CONTEST
PALMERSTON NORTH GRIEVANCE. (Peb United Press association.) PALMERSTON N., June 29. Last week arrangements were made by the Palmerston North Wrestling Association for a Patterson-Pcreira bout here on Friday evening.' Advice was received yesterday that, owing to one of the wrestlers being required in Auckland on Saturday night, the bout would have to start in time for him to join the limited express for the north. This meant that the usual preliminaries to the main bout would either have to be eliminated or staged afterwards. When the match was first allocated to Palmerston North there were no conditions. The Wrestling Association held _ a special meeting last evening to deal with the position. Very strong protests were made against the arbitrary action of the Dominion Union. The president (Mr Rolling) said the local association had already been committed to considerable expense, and should proceed with the bout and keep faith with the public. He considered it was high time that strong representations were made to the union concerning the management of bouts. The' statement was made by another member that Manawntu was being sacrificed for the sake of Auckland. A further meeting was decided upon to discuss the unsatisfactory position regarding the union.
