PATRIOTIC FUNDS
ADM T NISTRATIVE EXPENSES
THOROUGH OVERHAUL REQUIRED,
, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 29. Increased administrative costs affecting the Wellington War Relief Association arising from national and other work not strictly within the scope of that body’s responsibilities were discussed at a meeting of the Association Executive to-day. It was decided to obtain a report on the administration expenses involved. , . , . Suggestions were made that certain bodies administering patriotic funds should be amalgamated with a view to reducing administrative charges. No complaint was made that the expenditure was necessarily excessive, but it was felt that the Wellington fund was being unduly burdened. .. The chairman (Mr Alexander Macintosh) said the association was being used as a clearing house. One speaker said there were signs of a definite feeling abroad that the time had come when right through the Dominion the expenses of the administration of the various war funds and patriotic bodies should be thoroughly overhauled in view of the enormous strain being placed upon the fund ß in relieving distress among returned soldiers.
