A GOVERNMENT DEFEAT. VOTE IN THE SENATE. CANBERRA, June 29. The Government was defeated again in the Senate by 22 votes to 7 on a motion requesting that the duty in. the tariff schedule on foreign dims imported for the purpose of copying be reduced. Thirteen senators of the United Australia Party voted against the Government. THE MISSING COLLIER. NO TRACE FOUND SO FAR. SYDNEY, June 29. (Received Jupe 29, at 10 p.m.) The search for the missing collier Christina Fraser has so far been unavailing. Two small coasters, aided by aeroplanes, will carry on the search to-morrow. The Christina Fraser is a very sturdy vessel, though small, and it is believed that she is drifting in the direction of New Zealand, possibly having developed engine trouble. Aeroplane pilots state that the visibility at sea from a height of 1000 feet was "quite 20 miles. CITRUS FRUIT TRADE. THE NEW ZEALAND EMBARGO^ SYDNEY, June 29. (Received June 29, at 11.55 p.m.) A fruitgrowers conference in Sydney passed a resolution asking the Federal Government to make a further earnest endeavour to have the New Zealand embargo on Australia’s citrus fruit lifted. It was stated that the growers have already lost £300,000 ns the result of the embargo. One of the speakers, Mr J. Lawson, said that New Zealand was at present on the, box seat and flirting with America. Growers should be patient and wait, and do their best to win the trade back. It was decided to ask the Government to provide a bounty in the shape of a guarantee against loss up to Sydney parity at the date of shipment. THE STUD SHEEP SALES. SYDNEY, June 29. (Received June 29, at 11.55 p.m.) The stud sheep sales concluded to-day, Six merino extra special stud rams, on account of Mr Charles Mills, of Hay, averaged £292 ss, while two special rams made 150 guineas each.
