Though nearly 250 years have passed since the city of Lincoln was granted a charter by Charles 11, which permitted the citizens to hold a fair in April for. four days, the fair still enjoys popularity. Until four years ago the horse fair was held in the streets of the city. It was decided in 1929 to hold the fair in future at West Common, and nowadays the last whole week in April is generally regarded as “Fair Week." The first two - days are kept apart for the horse fair* while the bull shows and sale and the sheep fair are held on the Thursday and Friday.
