SUBSIDY ON BUILDING

NEW SCHEME WELL RECEIVED DISTINCT FILLIP TO INDUSTRY, (Speciai. to Daily Times.) ;; AUCKLAND, June 26. Over 70 applications for assistance under the Unemployment Boards build.ing subsidy scheme have already been received by the Auckland office of the board, the total estimated value-of the works amounting to over £44,000. Although the application forms were received in Auckland a little more than a week ago the first approvals are now. being received. ( It is quite apparent that the subsidy scheme is being favourably received, for nearly 250 . application forms have been taken by. builders and others,' and, in addition to the 70 applications already received, it is anticipated " that many more will be submitted 'during this week. These applications are being dealt with expeditiously, and the fact that a number have already been granted indicates that the board is losing no time in getting the scheme into operation". _ ,■-,'■' A large number i of the applications already received are for dwellings costing from £7OO to £IOOO, but several of the major works specified in the applications involve a total outlay of more than £IOOO. The largest is for business j premises to cost, £13,500. -
