REVIVALIST MEETING

Yesterday afternoon the Town Hall Concert Chamber was well filled when the Rev. W. P. Nicolson delivered an address to evangelical Christian people on the sixth verse of the eighty-fifth Psalm: “Wilt Thou not revive us again that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?” He showed the source, the subjects, and the objects of revival. In a powerful address, illustrating one of many facts in the common experience of himself or his hearers,_ he demonstrated the necessity of revival amongst all God’s people. The learning which always followed such revival and the gladness and joy which was associated with it were stressed. The evangelist is possessed of a great fund of humour, and in the preliminary singing of revival hymns showed great aptitude for leading public gatherings in singing. He will leave Dunedin for Gisborne and other centres to-morrow _ morning, and hopes to return to this city for an evangelistic mission in October next under the auspices of the local Bible League. Mr George Buckley, who also was on the platform, intimated that a prayer meeting would lie held every Wednesday till October next, from 12.30 p.ra. to 2 p.m., in the Y.M.C.A. The Rev. George Miller occupied the chair, and the meeting was closed with the chorus “O Lord, Send a Revival.”
