WAIKOUAITI NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, June 24. FOOTBALL. Merton played Waikouaiti Juniors here to-day, and lost by 19 to nil. Mr r C. M. '’'Olsen (Palmerston) was the referee. The game between Karitane and Shag Point was played at Waikouaiti. Ross kicked a penalty goal early, followed by a try by Wild. Shag Point 6, Karitane nil. * Craib then got over for Karitane, and Patterson converted. Shag Point C, Karitane 5. Ross again got a good lead for Shag Point by a potted goal, the half-time score being Shag Point 10, Karitane 6. In the second half Ross kicked a goal from his try. Shag Point 15, Karitane 5. This was followed by a try by Barber, which Ross converted. The final score was Shag Point 20, Karitane 5. Mr Hayes was the referee. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The Waikouaiti branch of the Plunket Society held its annual social and dance on Thursday evening. At the supper interval Mr G. de Lautour gave a brief summary of the work of the branch, and, on behalf of the committee, thanked all those who had helped in the arrangements of the evening. Messrs G. Toomcy, jun., and L. Goodley were M.C.’s.
